*This interview is part of our Climate Group employee interview series where we ask people to share their experience of working at Climate Group and what a regular day looks like in their role.

Why Climate Group?

When I first joined the organisation, a big part of my role was working on Climate Week NYC, and I was excited to work on such a big event centered around such an important topic. I was aware of it in previous roles and loved the momentum it creates for driving climate action. So, when the opportunity to work for Climate Group came, it was something I had to go for!

What does a regular day for you as a Senior Communications Officer look like?

No two days are the same – one day we’re creating an app, the next we’re delivering some amazing video content. It really gives a nice variety to work life and means I’ve gained skills across loads of different areas. Importantly, the constant is getting to be involved in the storytelling of such an important issue.

What do you enjoy most about working at Climate Group?

Definitely the people – it’s great working in a really friendly, relaxed environment. Everyone’s so welcoming and has such a genuine passion for working towards our common goal.

What have you learnt from working at Climate Group?

Loads - probably more than I’ve realised. The work we do at Climate Group really delves into areas you wouldn’t mainly think of. It’s been great to get a better understanding of areas like industry and the built environment and their relationship with emissions. I’ve also learned a lot about communicating through various forms of media, which I've found both fascinating and challenging.

Who or what inspires you in your line of work?

It might sound cliché, but David Attenborough is top of my list. I probably wouldn’t be in this line of work if it wasn’t for him. There are also a million other examples of content and campaigns which inspire me and make me want to do something impactful and cool. The Don’t Choose Extinction campaign by the UNDP is one that springs to mind as something I’m creatively inspired by.

How do you stay motivated to keep driving climate action, fast?

The increasing coverage of the progress and ongoing work of combatting climate change, as well as reading about the inspiring global efforts that are taking place. Also, hearing stories about those affected by climate change as well as watching countless documentaries that remind me how amazing the world is, is the biggest motivator to keep myself going.
