In response to the final declaration of the G20 leaders gathered in New Delhi, the international ngo Climate Group released the following statement.

Champa Patel, Executive Director of Climate Group, said:

“The fact that the G20 countries have collectively agreed to pursue a tripling of the renewable energy capacity by 2030 is very encouraging, as is the work proposed towards low-cost financing for developing countries.”

“Now it is vital that all individual countries determine the concrete steps they need to take to speed up this energy transition. That means setting and reaching ambitious targets, breaking down barriers and regulations that prevent renewables from being rolled out fast and properly, and ensuring the right infrastructure is in place. Today is a hopeful day but we need to see the declaration being put into action soon, as we don’t have time to waste.”
